Brian Ledell Pierce-Yung Face Capone – The 20 Grand Story My grandmother, Virginia Lee Pierce, raised me—her grandson—in the Binghampton neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. I was born on April 29, 1980, to my mother, Barbara A. Belmont (affectionately known as Nay-Nay), and my father, Ray A. Young (Ray-Ray). From a young age, I was filled with passion. I began exploring music early, learning how to record tracks, but like many in the inner city, I also faced the challenges of street life. Despite the circumstances, I stayed grounded through my love for art and Black history. Motivated to rise above, I focused on school and graduated from East High School. I remained active in the community, playing baseball and basketball with local churches and community centers. I nearly walked on to the baseball team at LeMoyne-Owen College in 1998. However, life took a drastic turn at age 19. On March 31, 2000—just 29 days before my 20th birthday—I was paralyzed in an incident tied to the streets. After being released from the hospital, wheelchair-bound, I redirected my life and returned to a deep-seated passion: music. I began dedicating myself fully to recording and producing. My love for music has opened many doors. I've hosted shows in clubs across Memphis, delivered countless live performances, and collaborated with numerous Memphis legends, including Lil Noid, Juicy J & DJ Paul, Gangsta Blac, Crunchy Blac, La Chat, Young Dolph, Don Trip, Mac E, Mac Gutta, Miscellaneous, Lieutenant G, Tre V, and T.N. Da Entertainer—the Tennessee Representer. Driven by purpose, I founded 20 Grand Records. Inspired by the six generations of children still growing in my family, I built a label that would embrace talent from across the Tri-State area. Artists like Tre V, Goate Reel, Mitchell Heights Music, and T.O.R.N. Records have become part of the 20 Grand family. A new chapter began on September 29, 2009, when I met Mr. Tim Thompson, a state champion football coach and a pillar in the Orange Mound community. Mr. Thompson began recruiting talent for the Hip Hop Memphis Movement, affiliated with BET and The Source Magazine. 20 Grand Records joined the ranks of elite local labels and artists such as Paper Chaser, Lil Peanut, P London, and others, representing Memphis's inner city. In addition to music, I attend P.M.B. Church and am guided by my mentor and pastor, Rev. Steven J. Turner. I'm deeply involved with the church youth and serve my community with purpose. I'm also pursuing higher education and plan to attend the University of Memphis to further expand my knowledge and impact. Through faith, passion, and relentless drive, I’ve transformed my trials into triumph. I stand today as a living testimony to the power of vision, resilience, and divine purpose.
